Remote maintenance

The building facilities enable increasingly communication interfaces that allow us to a remote management through gateways. This is the case of power generators, air conditioning equipment, multimedia equipment such as video projector, etc. Furthermore, older equipment that do not have a communication interfaces can also be automated with sensors that allow us to know remotely their status.

This way we can be warned because of the monitoring, for example if the power generator runs out of gas oil, if the air conditioning filters have be cleaned or if the bulb of the video projector has to be changed.

The University of Murcia has the Smart Campus Open Data Platform based on the City Explorer technology that has monitored a wide range of equipment for buildings; maintenance and failure alerts are sent in real time and recorded in the history log.
