DRAINUSE: Reuse of drainage solutions in hydroponic crops in greenhouses

Open hydroponic systems are widely present in the European modern agriculture. However, the drainage is released into the environment by using this system. The drainage is composed of 31% of nitrates and a 48% of potassium as fertilizer resulting in the water and soil contamination.

Closed recirculation systems are emerging mainly in the Netherlands as an alternative to that system. However, the use of this type of greenhouse is limited in the rest of Europe and the world, mainly because it has to be specifically designed and adjusted to the special conditions where the production takes place.

DRAINUSE is an EU LIVE project in which OdinS is the technology provider (controllers and software platform in the cloud) for the control and monitoring system of this type of greenhouse presented under this same framework.
